Our Heritage
Founded in 1994 under the leadership of Troy J. Dixon, The Petra Group originated from a vision to provide innovative benefits solutions and personalized financial planning.
With over 40 years of insurance industry expertise, we have consistently delivered effective benefits administration to employers and financial security strategies to individuals. Troy began his career in 1984 with Life of Georgia Insurance Company, later joining Metropolitan Life, before establishing The Petra Group in 1994.
Over the decades, we've expanded our reach across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, serving hundreds of employers and thousands of individuals. We manage benefit programs for major organizations including the City of Baton Rouge (7,000 employees), Southern University (2,200 employees), and numerous school districts across the region.
Key Achievement: When partnering with Taylor & Sons Insurance Agency (2005-2008), we expanded into Mississippi and tripled premium volume within two years, establishing Taylor & Sons as one of Louisiana's largest benefit providers.
